CRY Connecticut Action Center

The Connecticut Action Center (Conn AC) is committed to care for the rights and happiness of children with an aim to raise funds and spread awareness about CRY in Connecticut.

Since its inception in 2007, we have been successful in raising more than $30,000 and have doubled our active volunteer and donor base. In our effort to raise funds, we have organized events ranging from ‘Holi’ party and 3K Walk to the big budget, ‘Indian Ocean’ Concert. and  Bollywood Night with a NYC DJ. Seeing the roaring support of people, we are positive that our little Connecticut, “The Land of Steady Habits” will keep contributing towards our cause.

We invite high school volunteers, college students, professionals, retirees, homemakers and others to join hands for a common cause. Lets make this world a better future together! Please feel free to get in touch with us to find out different ways in which you can “Stand Up For Child Rights” in the true sense.

Do check out our upcoming events if you are in the Connecticut area.

The CRY Connecticut group organized their first every Bollywood night party in Hartford with DJ Badmash from TDX Dhol Xperience from New York. The party was extended well beyond the 11:00pm scheduled close time to 12:30am as CRY patrons, their friends and families danced to magical Hindi, Regional and English tunes.

The event included a free yummy full course meal from The Taste of India restaurant. There was a cash bar serving chilled beer and cocktails to the mood. All in all, a fantabulous night out in December for all music and Indian food lovers. Check out the photos, and be there in the next Bollywood night in 2010!

Char Rang Yaaron ke Sang 2008:

The infant of CRY America – Connecticut Action Center, organized its first big fund-raising event on 22 March 2008, Saturday evening called Char Rang Yaaron ke sang, Holi 2008. The guests were welcomed with tasty thandai at the entrance. The evening started with a presentation followed by the screening of the CRY anthem composed by Javed Akhter. The Vande Matra group from UConn Surya then held the audience at rapt attention while they dedicated the song ‘Mera Jahaan’ from the movie Taare Zameen Par to CRY for the wonderful work it’s doing. This was followed by amazing performances by the UConn Surya(University of Connecticut Fusion Dance Group) and Raunak Bhangra(Mount Holyoke). The energy, rhythm, and incredible vigor of these teams set just the right momentum and mood for the audience to keep dancing for the entire evening. People took short breaks to have yummy food catered by the Indian restaurant Curry King and continued dancing to DJ Harry’s floor-igniting music until 11 p.m.

The Core Volunteers – Ashwin Sanal, Arvind Nadig, Sandeep VijayKumar , Sujay Saha, Sushmita Pilaka, Aatna Ashok, Prashanth Shetty, George Paul and Nimeesh PuthanVeettil spent hours to make this event successful. We got rave reviews like “The Best Dance Party I’ve been to in a long long time” & “We were not aware that CRY was doing all this work – I’d love to volunteer for CRY in anyway required”.
