Atlanta Action Center

Background

Atlanta has been called the “City too busy to hate”. Sure, but mostly, this city is just busy. When residents are not busy commuting on the fine interstate system, they are busy enjoying restaurants, nightclubs, attending concerts and sporting events, and enjoying the city’s many recreation areas. Along with being busy, Atlanta is an ambitious city. But no matter how big it gets, it still seems to hold on to its Southern heart and humble start as a railroad terminus.

It is these character traits and spirit of the city that have trickled their way into the core of the CRY Atlanta Action Center right since its inception in mid 2006. The action center is spearheaded by a core group of 6 officers bringing a largely diverse repertoire of skill-sets, network connections and experiences to the table. In addition, at this time we have over a hundred volunteers from different walks of life – college students, young professionals, self-employed people, retirees, homemakers, ex-supermodels (!) and high school volunteers – all coming together for a common cause, to raise awareness as well as funds. We diligently ensure that every one of our events matches standards on awareness, fund-raising, and yes – volunteer satisfaction, for which we have monthly 'fun' sessions too. Our student chapters at Georgia Tech & Emory have been remarkably successful, and are looking at scaling greater heights, while our high-school chapters are taking off as well.

To volunteer – sign up here and become part of the Atlanta group.
